SketchUp is a 3D modeling program that allows you to prepare a rendering of scenes from the built model.
The rendering process is a time-consuming and cumbersome process that demands a lot from your machine.
To try to solve this problem and reduce the waiting time for these renders, we can do something called 'optimization' on your Sketchup 3D model.
There are several techniques that allow us to optimize your 3D model and make it lightweight for rendering.
The most basic technique is to “clean up the dirt”, like this:
Open your program, go to the 'window' tab > model information > statistics.
You will notice that some data will appear on the screen. Pay attention to the number of component definitions, labels and materials.
Click 'delete unused'.
Note that the data has lowered the numbers.
If this happens, your model has been cleaned and you have partially optimized it.
To further improve your optimization, you can apply this list:
1. Use native Sketchup colors and textures.
2. Leave it to texture in the renderer.
3. Filter and use only the necessary blocks.
4. Do not use blocks that weigh a lot (be careful with quality).
This way your model will be 100% optimized and this can improve it up to 70%, making it run much faster on your computer and making your render take much less time.
